Love Serenade
with Anna Lees
Season One
Episode Six
"Andy was sitting on the floor at the gatekeeper's box, so that he could have a good look before we got there and if he didn't like the look of us he could yank on the gatekeepers trousers and tell him not to let us down on the wharf. He decided that we looked okay.
So, he stood up and I remember saying to Susie, as soon as I saw Andy, I said, I made that phone call...he's mine!".

Episode Summary
There really is no scientific formula that guarantees you a perfect marriage or relationship. For Anna and Andy, they ‘just knew’ from the get-go that they were destined to be together. After meeting, getting engaged and married about a month later – they are still here to tell the story 47 years later. Listen to one half of the duo, as Anna and Linda discover:
- Somewhat challenging family dynamics and how that led to her love of travel
- How one ANZAC day in 1975 bought about a barrel of laughs and contagious love
- Finding love after repairing from hurt and bruises
- A hilarious and memorable Sunday roast share
Anna’s story is just a little bit cheeky and means we can discover the possibilities behind our own limitations to what love looks like. Such a delightful and surprising conversation which definitely only touches on the surface.
This episode has now been transformed into a chapter of its very own inside the book series Stories with a Sunday Roast. It weaves together the memories that were shared during the podcast conversations with my personal experiences.
Unlike the podcast, the carefully crafted stories and mouth-watering descriptions of roasty meals will transport you to another level as you turn the pages.
